Bishop Thomas Tobin from Providence, Rhode Island, is fulfilling his pastoral duty as a shepherd to remind Catholics everywhere that we should not attend or support LGBTQ “Pride Month” events because they “promote a culture and encourage activities that are contrary to Catholic faith and morals. They are especially harmful for children.”
His Excellency is receiving harsh ridicule, scorn, and persecution for his stalwart defense of Catholic morals and human nature as God intended it.
Bishop Tobin is doing what the Church has always done! When we truly love someone, we do not remain silent when they are being harmed or are hurting themselves. The same applies to the realm of the spiritual life. Love and mercy are shown to the sinner by instructing them in the Truth and showing them the way back to the path that leads to Heaven.
In fact, the Spiritual Works of Mercy (a duty of every Christian) include instructing the ignorant, admonishing the sinner and counseling the doubtful. This is done not by fooling them to think that sinful lifestyles are acceptable. It is done by charitably and compassionately, while at the same time clearly and firmly teaching the Truth, exalting the Good, opposing evil and protecting the faithful from the lies and traps of the devil and the world.
For his valiant defense of the Faith, I am presenting His Excellency Bishop Tobin with Catholic Action’s Faithful Echo Award. The Faithful Echo Award is bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated fidelity to the Faith in word and deed. It is given in gratitude and in recognition of their courageous witness and uncompromising defense of human life, the Catholic Faith, and for their exceptional loyalty to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
We must fight alongside our faithful shepherds for the integrity of our Faith and the protection of our fellow Catholics!
